219 rear sight
« on: July 20, 2018, 08:02:05 AM »
I have a Utica 219  30-30  that is in need of a rear sight. I bought one from Numrich that was to be for it but a repro and it does not fit. Any suggestions on what fits will be helpful. Thanks,,Gary

Gary, try looking on EBay.  I have found them to be a good source for parts.  There were two different sights used on the M219 rifles over the years.  The early "milled" sight and the later "stamped" sight.  I would recommend the milled version as it is much nicer.  Please let us know if you are successful.  Good luck on your hunt!

Gary, another option for a rear sight is to replace it with a Winchester type "Ladder" sight.  I have done this on two of my guns, one a M219 and the other a M220 with the 20" inch, 20 gauge, "Slug" barrel.  This sight is very good quality and is available from Dixie Gun Works for $80.  The have a 2nd and almost identical sight for considerably more money.  I have purchased both and the $80 sight is just as good as the more expensive one.

A Lyman or Marble's Folding Leaf rear sight works pretty well.

I have a 219 rifle I purchased on the internet that has been drilled and tapped for a long ramp front sight and it has a folding sight such as you picture.  Thanks for sharing your gun with us and welcome to this forum!
