Rough 219 .30-30
« on: July 11, 2018, 01:24:26 PM »
The barrel is Utica on a Chicopee frame, looks pretty rough and the forearm is loose... but I know how to fix some of those problems now! :)  I threw out a bid but someone else also is interested.  I hope it isn't anyone here!

Dan, Please let us know how it turns out.  Also, some pictures...before and after?

One way to deal with an "aged" finish is the Black Nitride process, which hardens the steel surface and makes it highly corrosion resistant, but does not alter dimensions.  See BlackNitride.com for specs.  Though the trigger pull remains heavier than I prefer, this Black Nitrided 219 .30-30 does particularly well with wheelweight 311041 over 15 grains of SR4759 and Sierra 125 SPT over 36 grains of IMR4895.
