Barrel interchangeability....
« on: February 05, 2018, 08:43:49 AM »
Is a 219 30-30 barrel completely interchangeable with a 219 22 Hornet Barrel?
Thx, JonC

JonC,   This cannot be answered with a yes or no.  The early 219 actions, 219 and 219A, have a receiver with a "Striker" system, not an internal hammer.  The early barrels, before the B,C, & D suffixes do not have a cocking stud on the barrel lug and will only work on the early actions that the "Striker" is cocked when the top lever is moved to the right to open the action.  The early barrels will not cock the B,C, & D actions.  The later barrels will work on the early actions because the top lever cocks the striker.  With that said, even though you may have the correct barrel for the action, the barrel may drop right in and fit perfectly, or it may have to be fitted by a gun smith.  It could not fit at all, or close but have head space.  If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
