Anyone else have a thing for the 340?
« on: January 31, 2018, 12:04:17 PM »

I got a 90+% 340 carbine in .30-30 not too long ago. I haven't had time to shoot it.
 Anyone have experience with these?
I think I'm going to fall in love with this little devil!

Like most Savages, the earlier they are, the better they look.  But they all work, including the Western Auto marked ones (840???), and the three I've had all were more accurate than I or most people expected, especially the fairly early walnut stocked .222 Remington version.  And they are an interesting design that somewhat prefigures the 110 series, which have, for good reasons, been a great success for Savage.  The treinta-treinta versions like yours have killed a bunch of deer over the years.

Deosentai, Welcome to this forum!  I cannot be of any help with the M340 Savage.  All I know about this model is that it is a bolt action repeater.  This forum was set up for people interested in the M219/220 single shots.  My only suggestion is to "Google" Savage 340 and see what information pops up.  Best wishes, Garnett

Here you go, I have a stevens 325 which is the first of the models and we're only made the first 2 years. They are easy to tell apart from the 340 series as they have a butter knife bolt handle and no cocking piece cap on the bolt.
