M219 in .25-20

In the past 6 weeks, two M219's in .25-20 have sold on the internet.   The first one sold for $660 and the second one for $805.  This is a rare caliber and the only two I have seen for sale.  I did not bid, as I have had one for many years in about 95%  new condition.

I love 219s.  But I'm not a collector and those prices are definitely "collector prices"! 

Most of my 219s and 220s are guns "made up" from parts for that reason, because hunting inevitably involves some damage, at least cosmetic, and I'm reluctant to deny a pristine gun to those who value them so highly as collector's items.  A "made up" gun can take some nicks and dings and I don't have to feel guilty about them.

With the demise of the H&R/NEF single shots, the TC " Contender" carbine/rifle is about the only game in town if you want to pack a break-action single shot rifle made in USA.  And I've heard that the recent (post-S&W acquisition of TC) Contenders have some quality control problems that make switching barrels pretty "iffy".  Anyone else heard that?  Mine are G2s, TC-made in New Hampshire, with custom rifle barrels made by MGM and shotgun barrels by the old TC "Custom Shop" (which I think was really MGM--the ventilated ribs on the shotgun barrels were made by them at least).

Another M219 in 25-20 sold today on Gun Broker for $405.00  I think that is very low for a rare caliber like the .25-20.  This and the two mentioned earlier are the only 3 I have seen for sale on the internet.  I got mine years ago in a group of 4 M219/220's.
