Model 219 .25-20 from GB
« on: January 01, 2022, 03:26:05 PM »
Well, I took a big step for me, buying a fairly pricy rifle!  It was 915676942 on Gunbroker, an early 219 in .25-20 for $675, of course the final price with all the add-ins was $775,  The seller had 3 219's, all in .25-20 an I think only the cheapest one sold.  The dealer is a very big dealer on GB but not that easy to deal with as he doesn't do much communication, I guess understandable as he moves a huge amount of items.

It has a steel trigger guard and single pin action so I think an early Utica model, marked -219- on the right side, Savage Utica info on the
left of the barrel and nothing else visible .  Bore looks good and I've mounted a Lyman all American 4X, early non-permaCenter scope and am seeking brass and components, should have ammo in a couple of weeks so I'll be back with a range report.

The 25-20's are hard to find.  They are seldom offered for sale.  If you have a steel trigger guard, it should be a First Model Utica and is striker fired.  These early guns are the best quality in my opinion.  Did you see the .22 SHOT MODEL offered?  These are ultra rare.  Also in the past few weeks there have been 3, .32-20's offered.  This is the only caliber I don't have, but those offered were just out of my budget.  Let us know how it shoots.  I have never fired my .25-20.
